The quality of care given to a burns patient in the 1st few hours of their arrival in a medical facility, is the determining factor as to how well they do overall. Using this BURNDR support system, gives the patient (and the health professionals on the ground) the benefit of having an experienced burns doctor involved in the assessment and management of that patient. This has a direct impact on improving the outcomes, faster identification and transfer of severely injured patients, appropriate treatment plans for patients remaining in district care, fewer complications, greater support for the doctors and nurses in the far-out rural hospitals, and improved team work over large health district areas. Needless to say, this approach also results in more efficient and cost effective use of limited resources - such as hospital beds, dressings, theatre facilities, high care support and much more.
The aim: to make sure that the right patient, is with the right team, at the right time.
